Portugal has been one of my favorite places to return to. I first visited years ago with a friend and started with a classic first-timer’s route, exploring Lisbon and relaxing in the sun in Lagos. More recently, I came back to experience a totally different side of the country and the wildly different landscapes of the Azores and Madeira, both Portuguese archipelagos in the Atlantic. From tiled streets and seafood dinners to crater lakes and cliffside hikes, Portugal offers a surprising mix of moods for a small country!
